The prophets of Israel
Worth knowing
- The Nevi'im, the Prophets, is the second part of the Hebrew Bible: Joshua to Kings, then Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and the Twelve.
- On the road to Emmaus the risen Jesus began with Moses and all the prophets and explained what they said about himself (Luke 24:27).
- The Great Isaiah Scroll, found at Qumran in 1947, is a complete copy of Isaiah from before the time of Christ, about a thousand years older than the oldest Hebrew copy known before it. The text is substantially the same.
