Three works make the corpus and the middle one is the surprise: between the Exhortation, which argues a pagan toward Christ, and the Stromata, which argues with the learned, sits the Paedagogus — the Instructor — which is about how a Christian eats, dresses, laughs and sleeps. Clement thought conversion and manners were the same subject at different distances. Almost all of it survives through a single eleventh-century manuscript, Laurentianus V 3.
